Meet Rose!

Happy New Year! We hope you’ve all had a safe, cozy, and girl-powered start to 2018 this week. Before we get back to campus this weekend, we’ll be getting a start on our own reading resolutions by spending some quality time in the pages of The Laughing Medusa. We hope a few of you are doing the same! To help you get inspired to smash even more of your goals this year (and obviously the patriarchy), we’ve returned from our New Year’s break to introduce the latest of our Editorial Council members.

To recap, our magazine is edited, designed, published, and promoted by a small group of BC’s undergraduate women each year, and we count ourselves lucky to attract some of the smartest and savviest snake-ladies that Boston College has to offer. Putting together a full publication each semester is a labor of love, and this year we’re turning the spotlight to the group of 13 awesome women who make it possible. Check back all semester to meet the full council, head here if you missed getting to know Kate last week, and read on right now to meet the fabulous Rose Dornon!

Rose is another of our new members on the Medusa Editorial Council this year! A Secondary Education and English major, Rose splits her free time outside of the Laughing Medusa between SEASA and volunteering at a local after school youth program. She has a passion for ensuring future children’s ability to benefit from a comprehensive and classical education system and has a soft spot for Anne Shirley (of Green Gables fame). Here’s some more fun facts about Rose:

Favorite literary quote?

“We sat grown quiet at the name of love” — “Adam’s Curse” by William Yeats

Personal female icon?

Helen Keller is my inspiration because she had the courage to test borders that challenged both women and people differently abled as well as the ingenuity and fortitude to turn her own experience into a message of hope through her speaking and writing.

Where you can find her outside of the Medusa:

Dividing her time between waiting in the bagel line at Addie’s in the morning and serving salads there weekday nights. Also check Rose out on her Insta or friend her on Facebook!
